Moving Tips and Tricks

Book Your Move Ahead of Time

Many times, especially in the summer during peak moving season. People come to find that all the good moving companies have no availability if the customer waits until the last minute. This is especially true if you book your move around the end or beginning of the month. So book your move well in advance to avoid any hassles.

Keep a Journal

When moving to a new home try and keep a journal of or a calendar all events that need to take place before, during, and after your move. This will help you stay organized and on time making your move go smoothly. Schedule times for utilities to be transferred, turned on or off. Keep a record of what each household member may need to make their move complete. When customers move they sometimes change physicians, schools, and veterinarians. Make sure to transfer all of the records needed.

Packing and Unpacking

We could probably write a large book on this subject. But these are the most important tips.

  • Keep a box specifically for important needs. Medications, Important records, and irreplaceable or expensive items.
  • Pack all dishes and other glass and fragile items vertically (Like records), they are less likely to break this way.
  • Label your boxes with different colored tape or markers.
  • Make sure you order or pick up more boxes than you need.
  • Pack heavy small boxes and light large boxes
  • Pack a New Home Box and keep it handy with hammers, nails, and other tools you will need right away.
  • Put all garments on hangers, then wrap with a garbage bag if you lack wardrobe boxes. If you chose our company as your movers we supply wardrobe boxes on the day you move.
  • Use trash bins, hampers, and laundry baskets as boxes.
